Web site verification Seals, Certificate and Logo's. Are they real? A review on How to Check.

☞ Security, Trust and Verification Seals/Certificates

☛ Note: Scam websites "WANT" you to "FREELY" give "THEM" your personal and credit card information by deceiving you into believing they are Secure or Trusted!

☛ Also Note: Most Phishing / Scam sites do not have malicious software to download or viruses for your computer so they may be listed in some anti-virus review sites as "good" or "no threats".

I will use the below site/s as an example review (links may/do not work if the site is closed down (it was), but the basic info applies):

⌦ At the bottom or side of some websites you will see "icons" for "VeriSign, McAfee or the BBB".  These are most often Fake. Validation icons on a website (VeriSign, McAfee, the BBB or FDA) all should open a page where it shows the verification of that site from the site providing the verification. "IT WILL NOT BE A GRAPHIC" (single or individual). Right click the "logo's" and see if you can save/open it as a graphic; all text should be selectable and the links work.

⌦ VeriSign Trust™ Seal Info;

☛ Site has an Illegal VeriSign Certificate; it's a Fake or Forged, uses a JPG:
http://www.sontab.ru/images/footer_order_now_bg.jpg

VeriSign Trust™ Seal info from VeriSign:
https://www.trustthecheck.com/trustthecheck/ssl/secure.aspx

⌦ "When you see the seal, you can click it to verify that the site is legitimate and not an impostor."

☛ The VeriSign Trust™ Seal should open in a window and the link should look something like this:
https://trustsealinfo.verisign.com/splash?form_file=fdf/splash.fdf&dn=www.sontab.ru

☠ Click it and see if "www.sontab.ru" has a good trust seal. It states it has one... The URL should be "hosted" on "verisign.com", not the website (www.sontab.ru).

☠ Here is a Fake/Forged Seal: http://www.mavvietfyek.com/certificates/verisign.jpg

Its a graphic with "no" clickable links".

☛ This is a GOOD trust seal:
https://trustsealinfo.verisign.com/splash?form_file=fdf/splash.fdf&dn=knowledge.verisign.com&lang=en

⌦ Notice its hosted on " https://trustsealinfo.verisign.com ", its in "text" (the words "SSL Certificate" and "SSL" are clickable) and its not a "graphic", its "green" in the address bar, and has a SSL "lock" in the browsers bar.

⌦ Some sites will use a "graphic" as the VeriSign Trust™ Seal page which looks like a "real" trust seal page (they copied it from a real site). Often they will have HTML code on top of the graphic to display a changing verification date.

⌦ If you can save it, open it as a graphic, or can only select the "date" as text, its a Fake.

⌦ You can do a quick check for any site displaying a VeriSign Trust™ Seal: replace the "www.sontab.ru" with any website domain name and paste it into your browner. If it has a valid VeriSign Trust™ Seal it should open its page.
https://trustsealinfo.verisign.com/splash?form_file=fdf/splash.fdf&dn=www.sontab.ru

⌦ What does the current VeriSign Trust™ Seal look like? Google "VeriSign Trust Seal" (then select images) and see. Remember the seal is hosted on verisign.com so whenever they change it it would be changed "internet" wide or worldwide.
The VeriSign Seal: https://www.verisign.com/ssl/seal/index.html

☛ BBB.org Trustmark;

Site has an Illegal BBB.org Trustmark; it's a Fake or Forged, uses a JPG:
http://www.sontab.ru/images/footer_order_now_bg.jpg

☛ BBB.org Trustmark info from BBB.org:
http://www.bbb.org/us/trademarks/

☛ BBB.org search for - "sontab.ru" - did not match any URLs:
http://www.bbb.org/us/Find-Business-Reviews/url/sontab.ru

⌦ You can do a quick check for any site displaying a BBB.org Trustmark: replace the "sontab.ru" with any website domain name and paste it into your browner. If it has a valid BBB.org Trustmark it should open its "own" BBB.org Business Review Page.
http://www.bbb.org/us/Find-Business-Reviews/url/sontab.ru

⌦ Try it with a well known website which has a BBB.org Trustmark to see what it would look like. Here's one: go to www.sears.com and click on the BBB trustmark at the bottom of the page to see Sears BBB review.

☛ The BBB.org Trustmark should open in a window and the link should look something like this:
http://www.bbb.org/chicago/business-reviews/department-stores/sears-holdings-corporation-in-hoffman-estates-il-5305#bbblogo

⌦ Some sites will use a "graphic" as the BBB.org Trustmark which looks like a "real" trustmark (older BBB.org trustmark seal). They just copied it from a real site, edited it and turned it into "their" graphic. It may even have HTML code on top of the graphic to display a changing verification date. If you can save it, open it as a graphic, or only select the "date" as text, its a Fake.

⌦ What does the current BBB.org Trustmark look like? Google "BBB.org Trustmark" (then select images) and see. Remember the seal is hosted on BBB.org so whenever they change it it would be changed "internet" wide or worldwide. Note: Some sites do have a BBB.org graphic hosted on their site, but it links to the BBB.org sites review page.

Here is a site where if you look at the bottom of the main page and look at all of those seals and logos, yes they are "all" fake". http://www.medicarerxdrugstore.com

☛ Useful links (replace the "domainname.com" with any website domain name then copy and paste it into your browner):

☛ Google All Site Search (edit domainname.com then copy the entire line below):
allinsite: "domainname.com"
You can put anything between the "". Try it with your name...

☛ BBB.org search:
http://www.bbb.org/us/Find-Business-Reviews/url/domainname.com

☛ VeriSign Certificates:
https://trustsealinfo.verisign.com/splash?form_file=fdf/splash.fdf&dn=www.domainname.com
https://sealinfo.verisign.com/splash?form_file=fdf/splash.fdf&dn=WWW.domainname.com
https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=domainname.com

☛ McAfee SECURE Trustmark:

☛ SSL Certificate Installation Verification:

☛ Google Safebrowse Diagnostics:

⌦ Where you will see Fake or Forged verification and trust seals (mainly graphics):
BBB.org Trustmark
FDA Trustmark
VeriSign Trust™ Seal
McAfee SECURE Trustmark
Canadian Pharmacists Association's Certification Seal
American Pharmacists Association's Certification Seal
California Board of Pharmacy
American Red Cross

☛ Remember: Phishing / Scamming sites do mot always have malicious software to download or viruses for your computer so they may be listed in some review sites as "good" or "no threats".

☛ They "WANT" you to "FREELY" give "THEM" your personal and credit card information.
