Ridemow - ridemow.co.uk
« on: January 08, 2014, 10:39:15 PM »
Please be aware that the above site is a scam - we have just been conned out of  1199 pounds by them.

They show that they offer PayPal, but when you get to the checkout, no option is given for this, and you are required to give your credit or debit card details.

We did this, but got an email a couple of days later stating that because they were changing their payment systems, they could not accept card payments and that we would need to pay by bank transfer.

we did this, and when we went to check on our order status only to find we have not supposed to have ordered anything.

we have since found that they are operating another business from the same address and are scamming customers in the same way.

we have given ridemow 14 days to refund our money or we are going to begin court proceedings against them.

Do not use this company

Thanks for reporting that, just checked and they are also using a few other sites on the same server :-

testbed.tubfurniturestore.co.uk
tubfurniturestore.co.uk
tubfurniture.com

if you have paid by credit card or paypal I would start the dispute process sooner rather than later as I would be very surprised if you get anything back from these chaps and from past experience they are probably operating from somewhere like singapore (and using fake UK addresses) so going through the courts will be futile.

Selwol have you managed to get any refund back from this company yet or have you started court proceedings~?

i fear that we also have been conned, my husband ordered a ride on lawn mower on Monday and they couldn't have been more helpful. They also said that they couldn't accept credit card or Paypal and would prefer a BACS payment, which i was a bit skeptical about.
I am a Police Officer and am very wary of everything but my husband assured me they were a genuine company so I trusted him and we payed for it via BACS (£1199)
we did not receive any kind of receipt or conformation email and after a day I felt very uneasy. Now I cannot get them on the phone as they do not answer or are always engaged. I have sent emails asking for them to make contact and heard nothing. I now feel sick to my stomach that we have been conned, and also feel very foolish.

I do not know who to report this to first? Trading standards? The bank? Watchdog?
Do we stand any chance of getting our money back?
Any advice greatly received, thanks
Emma

Hi Emma - I too ordered a ride on mower for £699 from this company at the end of February. I received a confirmation e mail and a follow up e mail in March saying that delivery was put back 6 weeks. I phoned number given and was told it was definitely not a scam. However I have tried several times recently to the number given (a mobile number starting with 0844) and received no reply. I have now reported this to trading standards and to police who told me to contact actionfraud.police.uk online which I have done and filled out a report. I would suggest you do the same ASAP. Perhaps you know this already being a police officer. I don't hold out much hope of getting the money back. Please keep in touch and let me know how you get on. Derek

Hi Derek,

We have reported them to Action Fraud, but I know this is a long process and not guaranteed to get our money back.

The strangest thing is that Ridemow are in regular contact with us via email from Maria the customer services lady who has been very reassuring stating that we would get our refund and that the money should be with us in a few days. However this few days has turned into more than 2 weeks. My husband says why would they bother emailing at all if they weren't going to give us our money back, i think its to fob us off a few more days.

Like you I can never get through on the number provided on the website and since we placed our original order have not spoken to a voice, all contact has been done via email.

Sorry to say, it's most certainly a scam that we detected some time ago
see
http://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/ridemow.co.uk

If you paid with creditcard or paypal then you should be able to issue a charge back..

Hi,

I too was scammed by this site. Made a payment by banks transfer because they said there was a problem with credit card payments. Then strung along for ages with tales of delivery problems and problems getting refunds etc. I want to make sure no one else gets caught out with this so I'm posting on as many sites as possible, to help make others aware before they part with their money.
I have contacted action fraud as well, the more people who do this the more chance there is that the police will follow it up.
Watchdog also.

Regards,

Exactly the same ash happened to me

They have took my money

No mower in sight

Refund has never been seen

I have raise a crime number, but I can't see that helping

How is it possible that so many people are affected and yet we can't do anything??

The website is still live and still ripping people off??
